Netflix and Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment are set to delve into the vibrant world of Bollywood with a new “multi-genre” series, scheduled to premiere in 2025. The project, directed by Aryan Khan, promises a dynamic exploration of the Indian film industry through the lens of an ambitious outsider navigating its glamorous yet complex landscape.

Described as “audacious, unabashed, and entertaining,” the series will blend self-aware humor with larger-than-life characters, alongside cameos that celebrate Indian cinema. Although casting details remain under wraps, the show aims to deliver a tongue-in-cheek take on the movie business, offering a fresh perspective on what it takes to thrive in Bollywood.

“This one’s going to be all heart, all hustle, and a whole lot of entertainment,” Shah Rukh Khan said, adding, “It’s a unique narrative brought to life by Aryan, many passionate minds, and the team at Red Chillies Entertainment.”

This marks the sixth collaboration between Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment, following successful projects such as Darlings, Bhakshak, Class of ’83, Betaal, and Bard of Blood. Monika Shergill, VP of Content at Netflix India, expressed excitement about the venture. She said, “We’re thrilled to partner with Red Chillies Entertainment once again — this time, for a very special series, directed by Aryan Khan. Aryan brings a bold and dynamic directorial vision and has created something truly one-of-a-kind and thoroughly entertaining. It builds on our shared passion for fresh voices and quality storytelling, and we can’t wait for our members to watch it.”

Netflix has been steadily expanding its slate of Indian originals, with recent launches such as Heeramandi — The Diamond Bazaar, The Railway Men, Maamla Legal Hai, Amar Singh Chamkila, Sector 36, and The Great Indian Kapil Show. However, the streaming giant faces increasing competition in the Indian market.

The merger of Reliance Industries’ JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar presents a formidable challenge, combining two major players in the streaming space. Despite this, Shergill remains optimistic, stating at the APOS conference in September that Netflix has found its “stride” in India but acknowledged that “supply is not meeting demand in the country.”
