The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences honored creators and performers from ten countries at the 52nd International Emmy® Awards on 25 November, 2024. The glittering ceremony, held in New York City, celebrated the best in global television and was hosted by stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das.

Two prestigious special awards highlighted the evening. David E. Kelley, the legendary writer and producer behind iconic series such as Ally McBealL.A. Law, and Big Little Lies, received the Founders Emmy®. Kelley was presented with the honor by Michael Pressman, Co-Executive Producer of his shows Picket Fences and Chicago Hope. The Directorate Award was bestowed upon Sidonie Dumas, CEO of French production house Gaumont, by actor and producer Omar Sy, the star of the international hit series Lupin.

“In these turbulent times, television is definitely an art form that brings people from around the world together – no matter their culture or language,” said International Academy President and CEO Bruce L. Paisner. “The International Academy is proud to recognize these outstanding programs and performances.”

In addition to the special honors, the International Academy awarded 14 Emmy® statues during the event. The winners showcased the diverse and exceptional talent of television creators across the globe. Victories included Pianoforte (Arts Programming) from Poland, Timothy Spall for Best Performance by an Actor, and Thailand’s Aokbab-Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying for Best Performance by an Actress.

Other winners included División Palermo (Comedy), Otto Baxter: Not a F**ing Horror Story* (Documentary), Les Gouttes de Dieu (Drops of God, Drama Series), Tabby McTat (Kids: Animation), and La Vida Secreta de tu Mente (The Secret Life of Your Mind, Kids: Factual & Entertainment). Denmark’s En af Drengene (One of the Boys, Kids: Live Action) and Spain’s Punt de no Retorn (Point of No Return, Short-Form Series) also took top honors.

Additional accolades went to Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story (Sports Documentary), Restaurant Misverstand – Season 2 (The Restaurant That Makes Mistakes, Non-Scripted Entertainment), La Promesa (The Vow, Telenovela), and Liebes Kind (Dear Child, TV Movie/Mini-Series).

Winners hailed from Argentina, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Mexico, Poland, Spain, Thailand, and the United Kingdom, highlighting the global nature of the awards.
