Babil Khan, son of Indian actor Irrfan Khan, is all set to play lead in Hindi adaptation of the 2023 Telugu coming-of-age romantic drama Baby. The remake will also be helmed by the original director Sai Rajesh, featuring Khan in the lead role that was made famous by Anand Deverakonda in the original one.
The Hindi remake will revisit the emotional journey of two high school sweethearts navigating love, temptation, and self-discovery as their lives take divergent paths. Baby has been lauded for its sensitive exploration of first love and friendship, capturing the bittersweet essence of growing up.
Babil Khan debuted in Bollywood with Anvita Dutt’s Qala (2022), and since then has steadily built a portfolio of versatile performances, including Netflix’s Friday Night Plan and the web series The Railway Men.
The Hindi remake is a joint venture between Madhu Mantena, Allu Aravind’s Geetha Arts, and the original producer, Sreenivasa Kumar Naidu. Madhu Mantena, known for his penchant for producing gripping narratives, has expressed excitement about adapting Baby for a wider audience.
While Babil Khan has been confirmed for the lead, the search for the actress who will reprise Vaishnavi Chaitanya’s role is ongoing. Rumors suggest South Indian starlet Krithi Shetty (Uppena) is in talks, but no official announcements have been made yet.
Beyond Baby, Babil Khan has an exciting slate of projects lined up including Shoojit Sircar-produced love story.
