After a turbulent 2023 marked by the box office failures of Shehzada, Adipurush, and Ganapath, Kriti Sanon has turned the tide with a string of successful projects in 2024.

Sanon began the year with Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, a robotic rom-com that charmed audiences and became a box office success. She followed it up with Crew, a comedy-drama featuring Tabu and Kareena Kapoor Khan, which also resonated well at the box office.

Her triumph extended to her maiden production, Do Patti, which premiered on Netflix to critical acclaim. Kriti’s double role in the film was hailed as one of her finest performances.

The actress has signed a two-film deal with renowned filmmaker Aanand L Rai. The first, Tere Ishk Mein, sees her pairing with Dhanush in a tragic love story helmed by Rai himself. Described as emotionally intense and set in a world akin to Raanjhanaa, the film begins production in January 2025.

The second project, a horror-comedy tentatively titled Nayi Naveli, will mark Tamil filmmaker Balaji Mohan’s Bollywood debut. Known for his work on Maari and Maari 2 with Dhanush, Balaji brings his flair for blending humor and action to this new venture under Rai’s Color Yellow Productions banner.

Balaji was initially set to debut in Bollywood with Click Shankar, a Junglee Pictures film starring Saif Ali Khan. However, the project was shelved after Saif exited over script issues. Now, Balaji is gearing up to direct Nayi Naveli, with Kriti leading the narrative. The male lead, described as playing an equally significant role, is yet to be finalized.

Sources reveal the horror-comedy will bring a “fresh and innovative approach” to the genre, offering a unique cinematic experience. Filming is expected to start in mid-2025 after Kriti wraps up Tere Ishk Mein.
