Sam Rechner, known for his breakout role in The Fabelmans, is the latest addition to Scream 7, Deadline has confirmed the casting news while details about Rechner’s character remain under wraps. Scream 7 is next instalment by Paramount and Spyglass Media Group in the beloved horror franchise.

Rechner joins a high-profile ensemble led by Neve Campbell, who is set to reprise her iconic role as Sidney Prescott. Rising stars Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, and Mckenna Grace are also on board, with May reportedly portraying Sidney’s daughter. Plot details for the upcoming slasher remain tightly guarded.

The announcement comes as excitement builds for the latest chapter of the Scream franchise, which hit a record-breaking stride with Scream VI. Released in March 2023, the sixth film brought in a domestic box office high of over $108 million, contributing to the series’ cumulative global earnings of more than $900 million.

Kevin Williamson, the visionary behind the original Scream screenplay, will helm the film, directing from a script penned by Guy Busick. Williamson’s return marks a major milestone for the series, which continues to captivate fans with its unique blend of meta horror and suspense. Returning producers James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment are also on board following their successful collaborations on Scream (2022) and Scream VI. Scream 7 is slated to hit theaters worldwide on 27 February, 2026.

Rechner’s star has been on the rise since his role as Logan, the high school bully in Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans. His other notable credits include Heartbreak High Season 2 on Netflix, and he recently wrapped Out Come the Wolves, a film co-starring Giancarlo Esposito. The Australian actor is represented by CAA, Marquee Management, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
