Annapurna Studios’ upcoming action-drama Dacoit has found its female lead Mrunal Thakur, best known for her role in Sita Ramam, according to Variety exclusive. Thakur will star opposite Adivi Sesh, who recently garnered widespread acclaim for his performance in Major. The film, directed by Shaneil Deo in his directorial debut, tells the gripping story of a vengeful convict seeking retribution against his former girlfriend who betrayed him.
The project, which is being shot in both Hindi and Telugu, is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda and co-produced by Suniel Narang. Deo, who collaborated with Adivi Sesh on the story and screenplay, is currently overseeing the production in Hyderabad, with plans for an extensive shoot in Maharashtra.
Adivi Sesh announced Mrunal Thakur’s casting on his own birthday, wrote, “Dacoit is a solid action film with a touching love story,” Sesh shared. “Mrunal has brought some of the finest characters to life on the big screen, bringing a unique panache to each role.
