NBC is gearing up for the high-stakes debut of its new crime procedural, The Hunting Party, premiering Monday, 3 February, at 10/9c. Starring Melissa Roxburgh as former FBI agent Rebecca Henderson, the series follows her elite task force as they face the ultimate challenge: tracking down dangerous convicts who escape from a clandestine, maximum-security prison known as “The Pit.”
Set against the chilling backdrop of a haunting rendition of Blondie’s “One Way Or Another,” the teaser introduces the show’s pulse-pounding premise. After a devastating explosion breaches “The Pit” — an underground hexagonal facility housing the world’s most violent criminals — Rebecca (nicknamed “Bex”) is thrust into action. With her team, she must not only apprehend the escaped inmates but also unravel the mystery behind the blast.
The teaser packs in adrenaline-filled glimpses of chaotic car chases, deadly confrontations, and a ticking clock as the squad scrambles to stay ahead of the escalating crisis. Joining Roxburgh in the action are Nick Wechsler (Revenge, Chicago PD) as Oliver Odell, Patrick Sabongui as Ryan Hassani, Josh McKenzie as Shane Florence, and Sara Garcia as Jennifer Morales. Kyra Leroux will also appear in a recurring role.
The Hunting Party boasts an impressive creative team. The series is helmed by co-showrunners JJ Bailey, who created the concept, and Jake Coburn. Both also serve as writers and executive producers. Thor Freudenthal, exclusively announced as the pilot’s director and executive producer, lends his expertise to the project alongside writer and EP Keto Shimizu. Produced by Universal Television, the series promises to bring a cinematic flair to its episodic format.
With its intriguing plot, high-octane action, and a stellar cast, The Hunting Party is poised to be a must-watch for crime drama fans. Following the season premiere of The Voice, the series will also be available for next-day streaming.
