Maddock Films has unveiled its upcoming romantic drama Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, set for a theatrical release on 25 July, 2025. The film, directed by Tushar Jalota, explores a cross-cultural love story that brings North and South Indian traditions together against the picturesque backdrop of Kerala.
“Param Sundari promises a heartfelt tale of love, where two worlds collide, and sparks are bound to fly,” said Maddock Films in a statement. “Set against the breathtaking backwaters of Kerala, this love story is a rollercoaster of laughter, chaos, and unexpected twists you won’t see coming.”
Dinesh Vijan, the chief of Maddock Films, compared Param Sundari to iconic works like Mani Ratnam’s Saathiya, which was the Hindi adaptation of the Tamil romance drama Alai Payuthey. He said, “The kind of music it has and Janhvi playing a South Indian is interesting, Sid’s playing a Northern Delhi boy, and the conflict is very cool. It’s like maybe taking ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ forward – there’s a high-tech idea in there. But we are going into the Kantara world of sorts – we are going a little more than that.”

Maddock Films has been riding a wave of success with recent genre hits in 2024, including the horror-comedy Munjya, the sequel Stree 2, the gripping thriller Sector 36, and the whodunnit Murder Mubarak.
Param Sundari adds another feather to Maddock’s cap, blending romance with cultural nuances. Janhvi Kapoor takes on the role of a South Indian character, while Sidharth Malhotra portrays a quintessential Northern Delhi boy.
The film’s storyline reflects Maddock’s penchant for unique concepts, echoing themes from past hits like Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, where Kriti Sanon played SIFRA, a super-intelligent female robot who falls in love. Meanwhile, comparisons to Rishab Shetty’s Kantara hint at the movie’s ambition to explore traditional themes in a modern light.
