Bryan Johnson, the tech millionaire on a quest to defy aging, is the focus of Netflix’s upcoming documentary Don’t Die: The Man Who Wants to Live Forever. Directed by Chris Smith, known for Tiger King and Fyre, the film offers an intimate glimpse into Johnson’s ambitious and unconventional efforts to extend his lifespan by up to 200 years. Premiering on 1 January, the documentary delves beyond the headlines that have chronicled his anti-aging experiments to explore the personal and societal implications of his mission.

Smith recalls the moment that sparked his interest in Johnson’s story, said, “Last year, I saw a headline about a man spending 2 million dollars a year to become 18 again. That initial curiosity led to a 12-month journey following Bryan Johnson’s quest and its effect on those closest to him, while interviewing experts from around the world to get a better understanding of the people trying to live healthier, longer. A year later, I drink less, go to bed earlier, and wear a ring that tells me how bad my sleep is.”
