In the wake of the 7 October attack led by Hamas, Israel’s allegations of a “mass rape” campaign have crumbled under scrutiny, lacking substantial evidence. According to a report by The Palestine Chronicle, it wasinitially portrayed as a calculated strategy by Hamas, but these claims have not withstood the test of time or investigative rigor.

Fifteen months after the attack, Yedioth Ahronot, an Israeli daily, revealed startling information about these allegations. Israeli prosecutors admitted there was insufficient evidence to support the claims in court. “We contacted women’s rights organizations and asked for cooperation. They told us that they simply didn’t contact them,” an Israeli prosecutor disclosed. “In the end, we have no complainants. What was presented in the media compared to what will ultimately emerge will be completely different.”

Despite persistent narratives pushed by Western leaders and prominent figures such as Hillary Clinton and Sheryl Sandberg, the foundation of these accusations appears weak. Sandberg’s film, “Screams Before Silence,” heavily promoted in public events and exclusive screenings, relied on interrogation tapes deemed unreliable by various fact-finding missions, the UN, and human rights organizations. The Shin Bet’s use of forced testimonies further undermined the credibility of these accounts.

The UN, encouraged by Israel to investigate, found no evidence of the alleged sexual violence, especially in Kibbutz Be’eri. Special Representative Pramila Patten’s report acknowledged indicators of sexual violence but could not confirm any specific cases. Notably, the UN debunked two allegations, revealing compromised crime scenes and moved bodies.

The New York Times faced backlash after its exposé on the alleged mass rapes was discredited. Family members of purported victims debunked key cases, and the authors’ connections to Israeli state and military raised questions about their journalistic integrity.

Cochav Elkayam-Levy, who claimed to chair a commission on the October 7 crimes, was exposed for presenting false evidence, including misattributed images from unrelated conflict zones. Israeli media later uncovered her fraudulent activities, leading to a loss of credibility.

Despite these revelations, Western media continued to amplify unsubstantiated claims. The anticipated proof never materialized; instead, evidence pointed towards a campaign of false allegations. The “alarming epidemic” of gender-based violence touted by figures like Clinton proved to be an illusion, overshadowed by a tide of unverified accusations used strategically in a broader conflict narrative.
