Big Boys, one of Channel 4’s standout comedies of the decade, has been officially renewed for its third and final season. The hit series, created by Jack Rooke and featuring Derry Girls star Dylan Llewellyn, follows the humorous and heartfelt journey of a group of friends navigating university life.
As the gang enters their final year at Brent Uni, they face a whirlwind of challenges, from dissertations and deadlines to dating dramas. Fans can expect to see Peggy and Shannon explore new romantic relationships while juggling the chaos of parenthood, and Jack and Danny grapple with the reality of impending adulthood, testing their friendship like never before.
Reflecting on the conclusion of Big Boys, Rooke shared, “Ten years ago I took a rather ramshackle comedy-theatre hour about grief and friendship to a damp cave at the Edinburgh Fringe and never thought a decade later it’d be a silly, sweet lil sitcom about a lad’s lad and a dweeby gay becoming best mates. I hope it still represents those first Edinburgh shows but also the collaborative genius of our incredible cast, crew and creative team. I’ll be indebted to them always for giving me the funniest, happiest years making Big Boys 1-3.”
Produced by Roughcut TV, the series has been a critical darling, earning a BAFTA for Rooke and receiving five additional nominations. The first two seasons have found a wider audience in the U.S. through Hulu, thanks to a distribution deal with Fifth Season.
Jack Rooke created and wrote the series, also serving as an executive producer alongside Jim Archer, Ash Atalla, and Alex Smith. Directed by Archer and produced by Bertie Peek, the show was commissioned for Channel 4 by Charlie Perkins and Joe Hullait.
