Prime Video has acquired exclusive rights to three compelling documentaries centered on sustainability: Groundswell, Common Ground, and Kiss the Ground. Created by filmmakers Joshua Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell, the films promise to explore critical environmental issues through a fresh lens.

The platform will stream Common Ground and Kiss the Ground on 22 April, marking Earth Day, including a never-before-seen director’s cut of the latter. Meanwhile, Groundswell, a new addition to the Tickells’ body of work, wrapped production last year and is set for a global release on Prime Video at a later date.

Narrated by and featuring Woody Harrelson, Kiss the Ground delves into the potential of regenerating earth’s soils to stabilize the planet’s climate, restore ecosystems, and enhance food production. Combining footage from NASA and NOAA with impactful visuals, the documentary paints soil as the crucial yet often overlooked element in addressing climate change.

Common Ground takes a more investigative approach, exposing the interconnected web of politics, money, and power entangled within the United States’ broken food system. Through firsthand stories from white, Black, and Indigenous farmers, the film highlights regenerative agricultural practices that could restore balance to the climate, improve public health, and rejuvenate the economy.

In Groundswell, viewers will embark on a global journey to witness the interconnected crises of climate change, biodiversity loss, and soil degradation. The film explores innovative regenerative solutions being applied across ecosystems worldwide, offering hope and tangible methods for reversing environmental damage.

Joshua Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell have an extensive track record of impactful storytelling under their Big Picture Ranch banner. Their previous works include The Big Fix (2011), an Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival; Pump (2014), narrated by Jason Bateman; Good Fortune (2019), the John Paul DeJoria story; The Revolution Generation (2019), narrated by Michelle Rodriguez; The Earthing Movie (2020), chronicling their personal wellness journey; and their scripted debut, On Sacred Ground (2023), which tells the story of the Standing Rock Oil Pipeline protest.

With its focus on groundbreaking sustainability narratives, Prime Video’s latest acquisitions reflect a growing appetite for stories that inspire global awareness and action. As Earth Day approaches, viewers can prepare to engage with these transformative documentaries that tackle some of the planet’s most pressing issues.
