Four years after the monumental success of Shershaah, Karan Johar and Sidharth Malhotra are reportedly gearing up for another collaboration. Sources revealed to Peepingmoon.com that the powerhouse producer and celebrated actor are in discussions for a new drama film, which will mark their sixth joint venture in just over a decade.
While official details remain under wraps, the project is expected to be directed by Sharan Sharma, known for helming Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and last year’s Mr. & Mrs. Mahi. Sharma’s upcoming film is described as an emotionally charged human drama, and Johar has Sidharth Malhotra in mind as the ideal lead. According to insiders, the Ek Villain star has reacted positively to the initial pitch and given a verbal nod, pending a final script review.
If the collaboration materializes, it will add to the impressive lineup of films that Malhotra and Johar have worked on together, which includes Student of the Year, Hasee Toh Phasee, Brothers, Kapoor & Sons, and Shershaah. However, the production schedule for this potential project is yet to be determined, as Sidharth’s calendar is packed with multiple commitments.
Currently, Malhotra is in Kerala filming Param Sundari, a romantic comedy co-starring Janhvi Kapoor and directed by Dinesh Vijan. Once that wraps, he will move on to Vvan – Force of the Forest, a folk thriller from TVF and Ekta Kapoor that features Sara Ali Khan and is slated for a Chhath 2025 release. Additionally, Malhotra is in early talks with Ramesh Taurani to join Saif Ali Khan in Race 4, though production timelines for that project remain uncertain.
Dharma Productions, meanwhile, has an action-packed slate for 2025, with five major theatrical releases already lined up. This includes Akshay Kumar’s C. Shankaran Nair biopic, Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, and Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s untitled rom-com. The company is also preparing new ventures such as Kartik Aaryan’s Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri and Neeraj Ghaywan’s next film starring Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa.
