Peacock has officially greenlit The Five-Star Weekend, a drama series starring and executive produced by Jennifer Garner. Adapted from Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling novel, the project has been in development for about a year at UCP, with the series pickup secured following Garner’s commitment to the lead role.
The story follows Hollis Shaw, a celebrated food influencer known for her perfect recipes and seemingly idyllic life. However, when she suffers a devastating loss, the cracks in her carefully curated world begin to show—strained relationships with her husband and daughter, and an increasing reliance on validation from her social media followers. To reclaim her sense of self, Hollis organizes a weekend getaway at her Nantucket home, inviting three friends from different stages of her life—childhood, twenties, and thirties—along with a mysterious “fifth star” guest. As they reunite in a lavish coastal setting, secrets unravel, and their lives take unexpected turns.
Bekah Brunstetter serves as the series creator, writer, and executive producer. Beth Schacter joins as co-writer and executive producer, alongside Sue Naegle and Ali Krug, who are producing under their Dinner Party Productions banner. Hilderbrand, the author of the source material, is also attached as an executive producer.
Garner, who recently reprised her role as Elektra in Deadpool & Wolverine, is currently filming the second season of Apple TV+’s The Last Thing He Told Me, produced by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine. She is represented by CAA, Linden Entertainment, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
Hilderbrand’s The Perfect Couple has also been adapted into a Netflix series featuring Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Meghann Fahy, Dakota Fanning, and Eve Hewson.
