Eric Bana is joining the cast of Netflix’s Apex alongside Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton, according to Deadline exclusive. The thriller, directed by Baltasar Kormákur, follows a rock climber who becomes the target of a deadly hunt in the wild.

Jeremy Robbins penned the script, which is being described as Free Solo meets Silence of the Lambs, promising a gripping blend of psychological tension and extreme outdoor adventure. Details of Bana’s role remain under wraps, but his addition further bolsters an already star-studded lineup.

The film is being produced by Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and David Ready for Chernin Entertainment, with Ian Bryce producing for Ian Bryce Productions. Theron, Beth Kono, and AJ Dix are producing under their Secret Menu banner, while Kormákur brings in RVK Studios. Executive producers include Ray Angelic, Will McCance, and Dawn Olmstead for Secret Menu.

Bana, best known for his performances in Munich and Troy, recently wrapped filming Untamed, a Netflix miniseries where he stars opposite Rosemarie DeWitt. He was also seen in Forces of Nature 2: The Dry.

Represented by WME and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern, Bana’s involvement in Apex adds another intriguing layer to what is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s most intense thrillers yet.
