Netflix has confirmed the production and ensemble cast of Show Business (working title), a gripping period drama set against the backdrop of South Korea’s entertainment industry in the 1960s and 80s. The series will follow a group of individuals navigating the ruthless world of showbiz, chasing success against all odds.

Spotting an opportunity in the Korean music scene, she throws herself into the industry with unwavering determination. Gong Yoo plays Dong-gu, her childhood friend who enters the business alongside her. “Even though he’s reckless and unpredictable, Dong-gu has a soft spot for Min-ja and listens to anything she says,” the series description teases.

Kim Seol-hyun portrays Min-hui, whose relationship with Min-ja is complicated by years of admiration and rivalry. Once an innocent follower, she eventually reveals a sharp, rebellious side. Cha Seung-won transforms into Gil-yeo, a legendary composer known for turning singers into stars. Rounding out the cast, Hanee Lee plays Yang-ja, Min-ja’s mother, an aspiring singer who refuses to let hardship crush her dream.

Penned by acclaimed screenwriter Noh Hee-gyoung and directed by Lee Yoon-jung, Show Business dives into the struggles and aspirations of those who sought the spotlight, even in dark times. More updates are expected soon as the series takes shape.
