Apple TV+ is bringing back the psychological thriller Surface for a gripping second season, set to premiere globally on Friday, February 21. Starring and executive produced by Gugu Mbatha-Raw, the show returns with eight new episodes, rolling out weekly until 11 April, 2025.

This season shifts the mystery to London, where Sophie (Mbatha-Raw) is determined to uncover the truth about her past. After an injury wiped out her memories, she has pieced together enough clues to infiltrate British high society, using her stolen wealth to blend into an elite world. But when an unexpected call from a journalist shakes up everything she thought she knew, Sophie realizes she had been working to expose a dangerous scandal—one that directly implicates the powerful people she now calls friends.

Returning alongside Mbatha-Raw are Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Millie Brady, while the new season introduces a fresh lineup of stars, including Ted Lasso’s Phil Dunster, Gavin Drea, Rupert Graves, Tara Fitzgerald, Nina Sosanya, Joely Richardson, and Freida Pinto.

Created by Veronica West, Surface is produced by Apple Studios in collaboration with Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine. West serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter executive producing on behalf of Hello Sunshine. Mbatha-Raw also takes on an executive producer role. Directors for season two include Ed Lilly, Lynsey Miller, Jon East, and Alrick Riley.

Since its launch in 2019, Apple TV+ has quickly become a powerhouse in original content, with its productions earning over 2,500 award nominations and 538 wins. Among its most celebrated titles are the multi-Emmy-winning Ted Lasso and Oscar Best Picture winner CODA. With Surface returning for another season of intrigue and suspense, Apple TV+ is set to keep audiences hooked.
