Juhi Vyas and Mohini Sharma walk the red carpet with Greenpeace India to spotlight climate injustice and ocean crisis
In a striking moment that blended glamour with activism, the Cannes Film Festival 2025 witnessed a powerful show of environmental advocacy as two Indian women walked the red carpet not just in couture, but in protest.
Juhi Vyas, crowned Mrs. Globe – People’s Choice 2023, and Mohini Sharma, founder of Mrs. India Inc., made headlines on May 20 for their collaboration with Greenpeace India and Greenpeace South Asia. Their appearance wasn’t just about style—it was a deliberate move to bring global attention to the escalating climate crisis and the urgent need for ocean protection.
“This isn’t just a dress. It’s a story of heatwaves scorching our cities, of people suffering silently, of polluters who must be held to account. I chose to wear the crisis, because too many people live it every day,” said Juhi Vyas. “As a mother, I feel an even deeper responsibility to protect the Earth for the next generation.”

Juhi’s gown, inspired by a burning Earth, symbolized the heatwaves devastating Indian cities and the increasing inequalities caused by climate change. Her look echoed the ongoing demands of campaigns such as #DelhiRising and #PollutersPay, which call for stronger accountability from major polluters in India’s urban centers.
Meanwhile, Mohini Sharma’s oceanic blue gown paid tribute to marine life and drew urgent attention to the deepening crisis of ocean pollution, plastic waste, and the degradation of deep-sea ecosystems.
“When I walk the red carpet, I want people to think about the oceans. About how plastic waste, deep-sea destruction, and warming waters are threatening marine life. My gown carries the hope that we can protect what’s still left — and a reminder that the time to act is now,” said Mohini Sharma.
Her ensemble aligned with Greenpeace campaigns like #ProtectTheOceans and called on South Asian nations to ratify the High Seas Treaty—a landmark global agreement that would ensure better governance and conservation of international waters.
“We are proud to have Juhi and Mohini stand with us. Their courage to use a global moment like Cannes to speak truth to power is inspiring. Climate justice needs voices from every walk of life including artists, influencers, and leaders from India,” said Binu Jacob, Executive Director of Greenpeace India.
The collaboration signifies a rising trend where fashion is being used as a tool of resistance and storytelling, bringing critical environmental issues into mainstream spaces. By choosing Cannes—an international symbol of prestige and media attention—as their stage, Juhi and Mohini have challenged the norms of celebrity visibility and turned their spotlight toward the planet.
Both changemakers are known for their work in social impact and advocacy, and this partnership with Greenpeace adds momentum to a growing movement that fuses culture, climate action, and public accountability.
As the Cannes red carpet shimmered with sequins and flashbulbs, it was these bold environmental messages—stitched into every thread of Juhi and Mohini’s gowns—that stood out the most.
