The teaser for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic, The Odyssey, has been leaked online. The 70-second trailer, which was intended to premiere exclusively in cinemas ahead of Universal’s Jurassic World Rebirth, began circulating on social media platforms X and TikTok late Tuesday afternoon.
Continuing Nolan’s firm stance on theatrical-first experiences—especially after his fallout with Warner Bros. over hybrid releases in 2021—the teaser won’t be officially released online for a while, according to reports. Universal and Nolan’s camp have not yet commented on the leak.
The teaser features Matt Damon as the legendary Odysseus, Tom Holland as his son Telemachus, and Jon Bernthal as a mysterious figure shrouded in ambiguity. The voiceover narration sounded distinctly like Robert Pattinson, whichopens with ominous words over sweeping shots of crashing waves and deep blue ocean, says, “Darkness. Zeus’ laws smashed to pieces. A kingdom without a king since my master died.”
The cast for The Odyssey is one of Nolan’s most stacked ensembles to date, featuring Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Elliot Page, Mia Goth, Himesh Patel, Benny Safdie, Corey Hawkins, Cosmo Jarvis, and John Leguizamo, among others.
The film is currently in production and is being shot entirely on IMAX cameras, marking a first for a full-scale narrative adaptation of Homer’s epic poem.
This isn’t the first time a high-profile project has faced leaks before official release. Recent examples include Spider-Man: No Way Home, House of the Dragon, and Game of Thrones. As with those, the anticipation surrounding The Odyssey may only grow stronger in the wake of the leak.
Until Universal decides to launch the teaser online, fans will need to head to theaters—or keep refreshing social feeds—for another glimpse of Nolan’s most ambitious journey yet.
