Netflix is taking fans back to the high-stakes world of Alice in Borderland, revealing that Season 3 of the Japanese thriller series will premiere on 25th September. A gripping new teaser has dropped, promising an even deeper dive into the surreal, deadly dimension that has captivated global audiences.
The hit series, based on Haro Aso’s manga, became a global sensation when Season 2 debuted at No. 1 on Netflix’s Global Top 10 for non-English TV. Now, the third installment promises to up the ante as the story continues to unravel the mysteries that lie between life and death.
Director Shinsuke Sato is back in his role, reuniting with lead stars Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya, who return as Arisu and Usagi. The duo’s on-screen chemistry and intense emotional arcs have helped anchor the series since its debut.
According to the official synopsis, the new season begins with Arisu and Usagi now married and living peacefully — but the Borderland refuses to let go. Haunted by dreams and visions of their time in the alternate realm, their fragile normalcy is shattered when Usagi vanishes. Her disappearance, guided by Ryuji (played by Kento Kaku), a man researching the afterlife, pulls her back into the eerie world they fought so hard to escape. A heartbroken Arisu is soon visited by Banda, now a resident of the Borderland, who reveals where Usagi has gone. Determined, Arisu follows her — once again entering a place where survival comes at a price.
Joining the returning cast of Hayato Isomura, Ayaka Miyoshi, and Katsuya Maiguma are several new characters, including Koji Ohkura, Risa Sudou, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Tina Tamashiro, Kotaro Daigo, Hyunri, Sakura Kiryu, and Kento Kaku. Also confirmed are Yugo Mikawa, Joey Iwanaga, and Akana Ikeda.
The series is produced by Robot, with production cooperation from The Seven. The creative team remains largely intact, with Yasuko Kuramitsu and Shinsuke Sato handling the screenplay, Yutaka Yamada returning as composer, and Taro Kawazu leading cinematography. Iwao Saito and Shin Nakayama serve as production designers, while Yuji Shimomura oversees action choreography. VFX is led by Atsushi Doi, with production by Akira Morii and Tomoki Takase.
