The casting for The Devil Wears Prada 2 is showing no signs of slowing down as Bridgerton breakout star Simone Ashley has officially joined the cast, alongside number of exciting new additions including Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, and Kenneth Branagh.

Ashley, best known for her role as Kate Sharma in Bridgerton and as Indira in The Little Mermaid, joins returning stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. While her role is being kept under wraps, Ashley’s casting marks a major career milestone as she enters one of cinema’s most iconic fashion universes.

Also stepping into the high-stakes world of fashion publishing are Broadway stars Helen J. Shen (Maybe Happy Ending) and Conrad Ricamora (Oh, Mary!), as well as comedian Caleb Hearon. Meanwhile, Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman are set to reprise their original roles as Lily, Andy Sachs’ best friend, and Irv Ravitz, the Elias-Clark chairman, respectively.

Kenneth Branagh joins as the husband of Miranda Priestly, who is once again at the center of the drama. The sequel reportedly follows Miranda navigating a changing media landscape and competing for ad revenue with her former assistant Emily Charlton, now a high-powered executive at a luxury fashion conglomerate.

Reuniting behind the camera are director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, the creative duo behind the 2006 hit, which grossed over $326 million worldwide and earned Oscar nominations for Streep and costume designer Patricia Field. Karen Rosenfelt also returns as producer under Disney’s 20th Century Studios banner.

Liu, Theroux, Novak, and Chalamet bring a mix of comic and dramatic flair. Liu, famous for Charlie’s Angels and Kill Bill, reunites with Theroux (Miami Vice, The Girl on the Train) for the first time since Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. Novak, a writer and actor on The Office, made his feature directorial debut with Vengeance, while Chalamet gained recognition for The Sex Lives of College Girls.

Currently in production, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to hit theaters on 1st May, 2026 after nearly two decades the original film was made.
