After facing a series of release delays, Tehran, the geopolitical thriller starring John Abraham and Manushi Chhillar, is now expected to hit OTT platforms next month with Independence Day 2025 being eyed for its premiere.

According to reports, the film was originally scheduled for a theatrical release on 26th January, 2023, but later postponed to 26th April. The release has seen multiple shifts in its timeline. However, a source close to the project revealed to The Box Office Worldwide that the long wait may soon be over.

“The team of the film is considering releasing Tehran on Independence Day 2025. A final decision will be taken in a few days after which the official announcement will be made,” the insider confirmed to.

Clocking in at just 90 minutes, Tehran is being hailed as one of the marquee OTT releases of the year. Insiders say the film has “shaped up really well,” and the makers are reportedly thrilled with the final cut. The buzz around the film intensified after John Abraham’s previous outing The Diplomat exceeded expectations at the box office despite a modest opening, adding to the value of Tehran, which was sold for a record-breaking deal.

Directed by Arun Gopalan and backed by Maddock Films in collaboration with Bake My Cake Films, Tehran draws inspiration from true events and is set in a world of high-stakes espionage and political tension. The film also features Madhurima Tuli, who plays Abraham’s on-screen wife.

Leading lady Manushi Chhillar shared her excitement about the project, said,
“Shooting for Tehran was an enriching experience. I learnt something new every day.” Despite enduring a demanding shoot schedule, she added that the journey was creatively fulfilling. “There were a lot of night shoots, sleepless nights but it was all worth it,” she said.
