Dharma Productions is coming up with its next rom-com Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, featuring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles. Slated to hit cinemas on 2nd October, 2025, the film brings back classic Bollywood charm.
Director Shashank Khaitan and actor Varun Dhawan, known for their Dulhania hits are coming back with producer Karan Johar alongside Kapoor who plays Tulsi. The film is backed by Dharma Productions and Mentor Disciple Entertainment in association with Aadar Poonawalla.
Dhawan shared a behind-the-scenes video with Khaitan, where the duo teased audiences, wrote “Guys, we are on the sets of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, we can’t reveal right now. But Sunny & Sanskari are here,” said Varun, reviving memories of his playful Humpty and Badrinath characters.
His poster shows him in embroidered cream attire, sunglasses, and folded hands—cheeky yet traditional—with the poetic line, “Yeh aansoon hain mere… baarish ka kya bharosa…”
Janhvi Kapoor’s first look adds more anticipation to the film. She was seen in traditional gold saree and styled with retro elegance in her first look and her character was described as “Dikhne mein bholi bhaali, chanchal pyaari… Lekin andar se melodramatic like Meena Kumari!!!” This is the first time Kapoor is paired opposite Dhawan under Khaitan’s direction.
Filmed across Mumbai and Udaipur, the movie captures destination wedding sequences, vibrant song sets, and scenic Indian landscapes. The supporting cast features Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Maniesh Paul, and Akshay Oberoi.
Initially scheduled for April 2025, the film’s release was moved to September and now finally to 2nd October 2, aligning with the Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra holiday frame.
