London-based production outfit Finite Films & TV is expanding its footprint with the launch of a new base in Belfast, Northern Ireland, signaling a deeper commitment to international collaboration and creative talent across borders.
According to Deadline exclusive, the company’s Northern Ireland operation is being headed by producer Chiara Giavarini, with a focus on developing international co-productions and cultivating global storytelling partnerships. One of the first projects already in motion is an undisclosed international co-production, which will operate out of the new Belfast hub and is scheduled to shoot just outside the city later this summer.
In parallel, Finite Films & TV has officially announced its involvement in The Fears, a psychological horror feature from seasoned TV director Andrew Gunn, best known for his work on Doctor Who, Life on Mars, Survivors, and Primeval. The film marks Gunn’s feature directorial debut and is currently in development, with production slated for 2026 in Northern Ireland.
Set in a grim and claustrophobic immigration detention center, The Fears follows an interpreter battling to protect a recently arrived orphan and reunite with her own young daughter as a mysterious illness spreads chaos through the facility.
“This is an exciting time to be amongst the Irish and Northern Irish industry and its exceptional talent and support by Northern Ireland Screen and Screen Ireland,” said Finite Films & TV founder Amy Gardner. “We are delighted to be positioning Finite Films & TV in Belfast to collaborate on our projects, including The Fears. Andrew Gunn is renowned for his vision for human storytelling, and it’s an honour to be collaborating with him on this project, marking his foray from TV into features.”
The move comes amid Northern Ireland’s growing status as a global creative hub. Recent infrastructure developments, including the opening of the cutting-edge virtual production facility Studio Ulster in June, have positioned the region as a go-to destination for high-caliber productions.
Finite Films & TV has been behind several acclaimed recent titles, including Brides, which was selected for Sundance 2025; Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor’s Dreamers, which premiered in the Berlinale Panorama section earlier this year; and Joshua Oppenheimer’s genre-blending musical The End, which screened at Telluride, Toronto, and San Sebastian in 2024.
