Billie Eilish surprised her fans in Manchester over the weekend with news of collaboration with three-time Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron. The Grammy-winning artist revealed during her sold-out Co-op Live show on Saturday night (19 July) that the duo is currently working on a 3D project, being filmed during her four-night residency in the city.

“So, you may have noticed there’s more cameras than usual up here,” Eilish told the crowd. “Basically, I can’t say much about it, but what I can say is I’m working on something very, very special with somebody named James Cameron, and it’s going to be in 3D,” she said.

The announcement added a layer of intrigue to her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour, which supports her third studio album of the same name. While she stopped short of disclosing full details, the 22-year-old hinted that continuity was key: “I’ll probably be wearing this exact outfit for like four days.”

James Cameron, best known for Avatar and Titanic, is a pioneer of immersive cinematic experiences—making his collaboration with Eilish an exciting fusion of music and visual storytelling. “These four shows here in Manchester, you and me, are part of a thing that I am making with James,” she said, adding, “He’s in this audience somewhere, just saying.”

Cameron was reportedly present at Saturday’s show, intensifying fan speculation that the mystery project could be a concert film, documentary, or an experimental music feature. Online chatter has already started circulating, fueled by both Eilish’s cryptic remarks and the filmmaker’s known interest in groundbreaking formats.

This isn’t Eilish’s first foray into film—her earlier releases include the acclaimed documentary Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry and the animated concert special Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles.

Currently touring across Europe, Eilish is scheduled to head to Japan before wrapping up the global run in the United States, where she’ll conclude the tour in San Francisco on 23 November.
