Beloved NCIS duo Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David are back in action, as stars Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo brought their long-awaited spinoff NCIS: Tony & Ziva to a packed house at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday. The pair unveiled a brand-new trailer and shared behind-the-scenes moments from the series, which is set to premiere September 4 on Paramount+ with a three-episode drop.

The 10-episode spinoff continues the story that captivated fans for years. After Ziva was believed to have died, Tony left the NCIS team to raise their daughter, Tali. But Ziva was later revealed to be alive, completing a final mission with NCIS before reuniting with her family in Paris. Now living together in Europe, the couple’s peace is shattered when Tony’s security firm is attacked, forcing them and Tali to flee across the continent in search of answers and safety.

“It’s an epic love story about two people going on a journey,” said de Pablo during the Comic-Con panel at the Hilton’s Indigo Ballroom. Weatherly added, “It’s not a will they or won’t they. It’s a when will they.”

Joining the stars on stage was executive producer and showrunner John McNamara, alongside NCIS actor Brian Dietzen, who moderated the conversation. McNamara emphasized that the show is crafted to appeal both to longtime NCIS fans and new viewers. “I do feel that we tried to walk a balance between what institutional viewers who know it cold,” he said. “I don’t think they will be bored. Hopefully they’ll be almost nostalgic to see. The new viewers will hopefully be like, ‘oh wow, these two are a thing.’”

Set against a European backdrop, NCIS: Tony & Ziva promises a mix of emotional depth, suspense, and familiar chemistry. The cast also includes Amita Suman, Maximilian Osinski, Lara Rossi, Isla Gie, Nassima Benchicou, Terence Maynard, Julian Ovenden, and James D’Arcy.

The series is executive produced by McNamara, de Pablo, Weatherly, Laurie Lieser, Christina Strain, Shelley Meals, and Mairzee Almas. It’s produced by CBS Studios and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution. New episodes will stream weekly on Thursdays, with the finale scheduled for 23 October.
