Disney+ is all set to debut upcoming anime series Twisted-Wonderland: The Animation on 29 October. The series brings to life the enchanted world of Twisted-Wonderland, originally a hit mobile game in Japan co-created by Aniplex and Walt Disney Japan. The story follows Yuken Enma, a seemingly ordinary high school student from Tokyo who’s abruptly transported to a mysterious realm of magic and mayhem. With no magical abilities and no idea how he got there, Yuken ends up at Night Raven College, an elite institution where magic is taught and discipline is strict. The anime’s setting is inspired by the game’s world, where seven iconic Disney villains like Scar, Maleficent, Ursula, Jafar, the Evil Queen, Hades, and the Queen of Hearts have become legends. Their legacies shape the school’s seven dormitories, each brimming with students trained in their respective magical philosophies. First launched in 2020, Twisted-Wonderland has become a pop culture sensation in Japan, racking up over 4.8 million downloads and expanding into manga, novels, and merchandise. The anime adaptation marks a major leap for the franchise, translating its dark fantasy vibe into episodic storytelling for a global audience. Twisted-Wonderland: The Animation joins an expanding lineup of anime on Disney+, which recently premiered series like Murai In Love, The Fable, and Go! Go! Loser Ranger!. Also on the horizon is an adaptation of Cat’s Eye, about three café-owning sisters who moonlight as slick cat burglars.
