Actress Kelley Mack, best known for her role as Addy in The Walking Dead, has died at the age of 33 following a battle with glioma, a rare and aggressive tumor of the central nervous system.

Mack, born Kelley Klebenow, “passed away peacefully” on Saturday in her hometown of Cincinnati, according to a statement shared on the social platform CaringBridge. The news was also posted on her official Instagram account on Tuesday, alongside a photo of the actress and a heartfelt tribute:

“It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley. Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go.”

Tributes from across the film and television community have poured in since the news broke. Alanna Masterson, Mack’s co-star in The Walking Dead, remembered her with deep affection:

“What an incredible human. So proud to have fought alongside her in our final episode together.”

Throughout her career, Mack earned 35 acting credits and five producing credits. She rose to prominence with her performance as Addy in Season 9 of The Walking Dead, and also portrayed Penelope Jacobs in Chicago Med (Season 8) and appeared on FOX’s 9-1-1.

Her versatility extended beyond television dramas — Mack also worked extensively in commercials and voice-over, appearing in campaigns for Dr. Pepper, Chick-fil-A, Dairy Queen, and Ross stores.

Her passion for storytelling began early. After receiving a mini video camera as a childhood birthday gift, Mack fell in love with filmmaking. She began acting in commercials as a child and pursued her passion academically, graduating with a degree in cinematography from Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in Orange, California.

“Kelley was known for her warmth, creativity and unwavering support for those around her,” the CaringBridge statement read. “Her infectious enthusiasm and dedication to her work inspired countless others in the industry and beyond.”

Mack is survived by her parents, Kristen and Lindsay Klebenow; her sister Kathryn and brother Parker; her grandparents Lois and Larry Klebenow; and her boyfriend Logan Lanier.

“Kelley’s legacy will live on through her contributions to film and television, and in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her talent, kindness and vibrant spirit,” the family wrote in closing.
