Delhi-based creative firm The Visual House (TVH) has received a significant industry recognition with its short film CHOICE being shortlisted for the People’s Choice Award at the Filmfare Shorts Awards 2025. The nomination marks a notable milestone for the company, underscoring its growing presence in narrative-driven and emotionally layered storytelling.
Written and directed by Deepmala, Founder & CEO of The Visual House, CHOICE explores the complexities of modern relationships, personal agency and societal expectations. The film stars Anupriya Goenka as Meera and Karan Singh Grover as Kabir, with performances that rely on restraint and emotional nuance rather than overt drama.
The film centres on Meera’s visit to Kabir’s home, a meeting that begins with clear intent but unfolds in unexpected ways. Through a conversation shaped by vulnerability, hesitation and guardedness, CHOICE gradually reveals the subtle biases and moral judgments imposed by society on questions of gender, autonomy and desire. Silence and stillness are used as deliberate narrative tools, allowing fleeting expressions, pauses and unspoken thoughts to drive the emotional tension.
Grover’s introspective presence is paired with Goenka’s composed and clear-eyed performance, creating a dynamic that feels intimate and contemporary. The storytelling leans into realism, inviting viewers to engage with the grey areas that define modern relationships rather than offering easy conclusions.
Reflecting on the nomination, Deepmala, Founder of TVH said: “Being nominated for the People’s Choice Award is a moment of pride for our team. ‘CHOICE’ has always been about creating conversations, connecting with audiences, and telling stories that matter. The nomination itself is a recognition of the creativity, dedication, and heart of everyone involved.”For The Visual House, the Filmfare Shorts recognition represents more than an artistic endorsement. It signals the company’s intent to build a deeper cultural footprint beyond corporate storytelling. The nomination reinforces TVH’s commitment to stories that challenge, question and resonate on a human level, positioning CHOICE as a reflection of the studio’s evolving creative identity.
