The 31st annual Critics Choice Awards honoured the One Battle After Another, a subversive comedy centred on radical politics, with Best Picture award. The film also secured Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay for Paul Thomas Anderson, according to Variety report.

In the film categories, Frankenstein, Guillermo del Toro’s reimagining of the classic horror tale, and Sinners, set in the Jim Crow-era American South, emerged as major winners with four awards each. Frankenstein earned Best Supporting Actor for Jacob Elordi, along with wins for production design, hair and makeup, and costume design. Sinners was recognised for original screenplay, casting and score, while its 20-year-old lead Miles Caton won Best Young Performer.

Among acting honours in film, Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for Hamnet, while Timothée Chalamet was named Best Actor for Marty Supreme. Amy Madigan received Best Supporting Actress for Weapons. Netflix’s animated hit K-Pop Demon Hunters won Best Animated Feature and Best Song for its chart-topping track Golden, while The Secret Agent, set during Brazil’s military dictatorship, was named Best Foreign Language Film.

Television honours saw The Pitt dominate the drama categories, winning Best Drama Series and outperforming titles such as Alien: Earth, Andor, The Diplomat and Severance. Lead actor Noah Wyle won Best Actor in a Drama Series and told the audience it was “beautiful” to receive the honour, thanking his wife Sara Wells, his co-stars and Warner Bros. before leaving the stage. Katherine LaNasa added another win for the show with Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Dana Evans, saying it was “a joy” to play the character. Earlier in the evening, she praised Wyle, calling him “hard to beat” and a “steamroller” during awards season.

Comedy honours went to The Studio, which won Best Comedy Series. Its creator Seth Rogen took Best Actor in a Comedy Series, while Ike Barinholtz won Best Supporting Actor. Jean Smart won Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks, and Janelle James received Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy for Abbott Elementary.

Limited series Adolescence also had a standout night, winning Best Limited Series and sweeping multiple acting categories. Stephen Graham won Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for his role as Eddie Miller, while Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty took Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress respectively. Graham accepted the Best Limited Series award on stage alongside Cooper and Doherty. Sarah Snook won Best Actress in a Limited Series for All Her Fault.

Elsewhere in television, Rhea Seehorn was named Best Actress in a Drama Series for Pluribus, while Tramell Tillman won Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Severance.

The ceremony, held at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, was hosted for the fourth consecutive year by Chelsea Handler, who paid tribute in her opening monologue to filmmaker Rob Reiner, describing him as “the nicest guy in Hollywood.” Jimmy Kimmel won Best Talk Show and used his acceptance speech to stress the importance of free expression, delivering a satirical remark aimed at US President Donald Trump, which drew applause from the audience.

The 31st Critics Choice Awards brought together leading actors, creators and industry professionals, marking a year in which both film and television were celebrated for politically charged narratives, genre reinvention and standout performances.
