Sebastian Stan is in talks to join The Batman Part II, according to sources, marking another major casting development for the highly anticipated DC Studios sequel being written and directed by Matt Reeves. The move follows the filmmaker’s recent success in landing Scarlett Johansson for a new role in the project.

According to Deadline exclusive report, if a deal is finalised, Stan would join Robert Pattinson, who is set to reprise his role as the Caped Crusader. Details about Stan’s character remain under wraps. DC Studios did not respond to a request for comment, reported Deadline.

The sequel is scheduled to begin production in the spring and is set for a theatrical release on 1 October, 2027. The film is being produced by DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, alongside Dylan Clark.

Reeves’ The Batman marked Warner Bros.’ first major theatrical blockbuster following the pandemic-era shift to a day-and-date release strategy on HBO Max. Starring Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz, the film went on to gross $369.3 million at the domestic box office and $772 million worldwide.

Stan is well established in the comic book genre, having portrayed the Winter Soldier across multiple Marvel films over the past decade. He was most recently seen reprising the role in the Marvel Studios release Thunderbolts*.

Beyond franchise roles, Stan has also earned critical acclaim for his dramatic work. He was recently seen portraying Donald Trump in The Apprentice, a performance that secured him a Best Actor Oscar nomination.
