Netflix India is expanding its acclaimed anthology franchise with a third installment of Lust Stories, bringing together a new lineup of celebrated filmmakers to explore themes of love, desire, power and social hierarchies.
Variety India has learned exclusively that Lust Stories 3 will feature four short films directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, Shakun Batra, Kiran Rao and Vishal Bhardwaj. Each filmmaker will present a distinct story rooted in emotional complexity and contemporary relationships.
The anthology boasts a strong ensemble cast. Radhika Apte and Konkona Sen Sharma headline Motwane’s segment, while Batra’s short stars Ali Fazal and Radhika Madan. Rao’s film features Gurfateh Pirzada alongside newcomer Sana Thampi, and Bhardwaj’s segment is led by Aditi Rao Hydari.
Production on all four shorts has been completed, and the project is currently in post-production, with a mid-2026 release being targeted. The anthology is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Ashi Dua under their banners RSVP Movies and Flying Unicorn Entertainment.
Since its debut, the Lust Stories franchise has earned critical recognition for its bold and nuanced portrayal of female sexuality and modern relationships. The first installment featured segments directed by Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar and Dibakar Banerjee, with performances by actors including Vicky Kaushal, Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar.
The second season, which premiered in 2023, starred performers such as Tamannaah Bhatia, Mrunal Thakur, Kajol and Vijay Varma, with shorts directed by Konkona Sen Sharma, R. Balki, Sujoy Ghosh and Amit Ravindernath Sharma.
With its third chapter, Lust Stories becomes Netflix India’s first anthology franchise to run for three seasons. While the streamer has previously launched multi-director projects such as Ray, Feels Like Ishq, Ajeeb Daastaans, Ankahi Kahaniya and Ghost Stories, none have received similar renewals.The announcement comes as Netflix India prepares to unveil its 2026 programming slate at a major event later today, positioning Lust Stories 3 as one of its flagship original releases for the coming year.
