Lionsgate has unveiled the full trailer for Michael, its highly anticipated biopic on the life of pop icon Michael Jackson, as the film heads toward its 24 April theatrical release.
The trailer opens with a powerful voiceover declaring, “You are confident. You are strong. You are beautiful. You are the greatest of all time,” setting the tone for a story that traces Jackson’s rise from obscurity to global superstardom. Backed by a soundtrack of some of his most recognizable hits, the two-minute-and-16-second preview showcases the singer’s journey through music, performance and fame.

The film stars Jaafar Jackson, the late superstar’s nephew, in the lead role. In the newly released footage, he is seen recreating Jackson’s signature vocals, dance moves and stage presence as he is propelled toward international recognition.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, Michael also features an extensive supporting cast. Miles Teller plays John Branca, Jackson’s attorney and adviser, while Colman Domingo portrays his father Joe Jackson and Nia Long appears as his mother Katherine Jackson.
Other cast members include Jessica Sula as LaToya Jackson, Larenz Tate as Motown founder Berry Gordy, Laura Harrier as music executive Suzanne de Passe, Kat Graham as Diana Ross, and Juliano Valdi as the young Michael during the Jackson 5 era.
The film is set for release after months of speculation surrounding potential delays. While anticipation has remained high, it is still unclear from the trailer and official materials whether the biopic will address the controversies that marked the later years of Jackson’s life. The trailer’s arrival also comes just days before a UK documentary is due to air previously unheard audio recordings of the singer discussing his feelings toward children.
According to the official synopsis, “Michael tells the story of Michael Jackson’s life beyond the music, tracing his journey from the discovery of his extraordinary talent as the lead of the Jackson Five, to the visionary artist whose creative ambition fueled a relentless pursuit to become the biggest entertainer in the world. Highlighting both his life off-stage and some of the most iconic performances from his early solo career, the film gives audiences a front-row seat to Michael Jackson as never before. This is where his story begins.”
With its blend of musical spectacle and personal storytelling, Michael is positioning itself as one of the most closely watched biopics of the year.
