Jessica McNamee In Final Negotiations For Mortal Kombat Role!

Jessica McNamee (The Meg) is in the final stages of casting in order to portray Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat. Sonya Blade was the first female character to join the video game franchise.

Others joining the production are Australian actor Josh Lawson who will be playing Kano (enemy to Blade and a member of the Black Dragon clan) and Lewis Tan from Wu Assassins and Deadpool 2. We do not yet know who Tan will be playing but we can’t wait to find out. Jo Taslin will be playing Sub-Zero, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson ‘Jax’ Briggs and finally, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang.

We also can’t wait to find out some more details of the plot as everything has been kept under wraps. The video game that acts as inspiration for the film surrounds a huge catalogue of characters from different realms who all want to be crowned as the strongest fighter. The man with the answers is Greg Russo who wrote the screenplay.
Fans are eagerly awaiting any details that may arise, however, and there is a large fanbase for the franchise. Since it was first released back in 1992, there have been over 49 million copies of the game sold worldwide – despite being one of the oldest, it is one of the highest earners in the video game market. The most recent release was Mortal Kombat 11 which was released in April 2019. It currenlty is the best-selling title of 2019.
The film Mortal Kombat will be in cinemas on the 5th of March, 2021.
