Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boy’ To Represent India In Oscars!

Gully Boy, directed by Zoya Akhtar has officially been chosen by The Film Federation of India to represent India in the Academy Awards – it will be entered in the international feature film category.

The plot of the film is the story of a man who wishes to be a rapper who lives in the slum of Dharavi. It had its premiere at the Berlin film festival in February of this year and was well received in India, making 37 million dollars globally.

It was produced by Tiger Baby Productions and Excel Entertainment and starred Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.

Could this be the first win for India? In the past, the country has been nominated three times in 1957, 1988 and 2001 but it has never earned its win. But Gully Boy could change everything.
