Starring Janhvi Kapoor, Roohi is out this week We don’t know about you, but we sure are super pumped to be invited to the Bhootiya (Ghost) Wedding of the year starring Janhvi Kapoor. After dropping a dazzling display of her masala moves in the latest hit single Nadiyon Paar, Janhvi took to Instagram to show us her scary new avatar. After a dozen look-tests and never-ending hours in the makeup chair, Janhvi looks unrecognizable in her witch-bride character sending shivers down our spine. Director Hardik Mehta in appreciation for Janhvi’s character work says, “We did multiple look tests to arrive at a combination of prosthetics and VFX to create the look for Janhvi. What really surprised me was the switch that Janhvi would make as soon as prosthetics would come into play, and her whole-body language and voice would change to that of her witch character.” On playing a supernatural role in the film, Janhvi mentions that the work was physically grueling and caused her a lot of back problems during shooting. Although taxing for Janhvi, the final looks have made us all excited to watch this second installment of Hardik Mehta’s horror-comedy universe. After a long theatre-less lockdown, Janhvi is set to revive cinema culture with Roohi. She mentions being very excited and nervous for her release but is even more excited as a film lover to be able to experience watching cinema again. Roohi is a Maddock Films production and presented by Jio Studios & Dinesh Vijan. Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, it is directed by Hardik Mehta and stars Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma. It releases in theaters worldwide on 11th March 2021.
