“I had to evacuate for a lot of reason you all know some of it but not all of it. Thank you all. Pray for Gaza,” wrote Palestinian photojournalist Motaz Azaiza on X. On Tuesday, Azaiza shared the social media post along with a video before evacuating from Gaza. He has been reporting from the war zone of Gaza since Israel began the war in Palestine. The photojournalist got international recognition for his reporting from the war-torn Gaza and also gained over 18 million followers on Instagram. He was named the GQ Middle East’s Man of the Year 2023 and received the TRT World Citizen Communicator Award. He dedicated the TRT award to Palestinian journalists killed in the war. At least 25,490 people have been killed and more than 63,000 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. The death toll in Israel from the October 7 Hamas attacks stands at 1,139.
