Offspinner Shoaib Bashir will be making his Test debut for England against India at Visakhapatnam on Friday. England lead the five-match Test series 1-0. The 20-year-old had reached India later than the rest of the squad due to a visa glitch. Bashir, who plays for Somerset, will be replacing Jack Leach (out due to a knee injury) in England’s XI.

Apart from Bashir, veteran pacer James Anderson found a place in the playing XI, replacing Mark Wood.

As for India, they are yet to announce their playing XI for the second Test. Several omissions are expected. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja got injured in the first game, prompting the Indian administration to call in three replacements: Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar and Washington Sundar.

Earlier, the BCCI had announced that Virat Kohli would be missing the first two Tests for “personal reasons”.

India will be heading into the second Test at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium after a 28-run defeat in the first Test. The hosts lost the match despite having an upper hand.
