Actor-model Poonam Pandey died due to cervical cancer, confirmed her manager on Friday. “Poonam Pandey, the beloved actress and social media personality, has tragically passed away this morning due to Cervical Cancer, leaving the entertainment industry in shock and mourning,” said Nikita Sharma, Pandey’s manager while speaking to NDTV.
Pandey’s team informed her followers about her demise through her official Instagram page by sharing a story saying, “This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief, we would request for privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared.”
As soon as the news came out, social media platforms were flooded with responses—some shocking, some confusing. Some fans even speculated that it might be a publicity stunt.
The 32-year-old was a social media sensation and was known for her bold photoshoots and comments. She became famous in 2011 when she said that she would strip if India won the Cricket World Cup. However, India did win but Pandey did not strip saying that she didn’t want to break the law and that statement was a publicity stunt only.
The actress has worked in several Kannada and Telugu movies including ‘Love Is Poison’, ‘Malini & Co.’ She made her Bollywood debut with Amit Saxena’s 2013 film ‘Nasha’. Pandey also appeared in a TV reality show ‘Lock Upp’ season 1, hosted by Kangana Ranaut.
