Neeraj Pandey marks OTT return with Netflix thriller, check details

Following his recent directorial venture ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha,’ starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu, director Neeraj Pandey will return to the OTT space. According to media reports, Pandey has already delved into another project, even before the release of his upcoming romantic thriller on 26th April, marking his first theatrical venture in six years.

According to industry sources, Pandey is set to direct a thriller for Netflix, featuring Avinash Tiwary, Saiyami Kher, and Jimmy Sheirgill in pivotal roles. While specific plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, the film is slated to kick off production at the end of February. The shoot, spanning approximately 30 days, will traverse cities including Mumbai, Agra, and Abu Dhabi. Described as a quintessential Pandey thriller, the movie is poised to captivate audiences with its blend of suspense, excitement, surprise, and intrigue.

The yet-to-be-titled project is part of Netflix India’s collaborative venture with Neeraj Pandey’s Friday Storytellers LLP, the digital content production arm of Friday Filmworks. This film marks the second collaboration resulting from the strategic partnership announced in August 2023, wherein both entities committed to collaborating on various projects spanning films and series.

Their initial project, the second season of the successful cop-criminal chase drama series ‘Khakee: The Bihar Chapter,’ is already in the pipeline.

Notably, the casting for Pandey’s latest Netflix original signals a reunion of sorts for the director, as he has previously collaborated with the lead actors on separate projects. Avinash Tiwary starred in ‘Khakee: The Bihar Chapter,’ Saiyami Kher was part of Pandey’s Disney+Hotstar series ‘Special OPS,’ and Jimmy Sheirgill recently collaborated with him on ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’.

Pandey is also involved in the second season of ‘Special OPS’ starring Kay Kay Menon and ‘Khakee Chapter 2.’ Furthermore, he is producing several films under his banner, including a Malayalam remake featuring Nushrratt Bharuccha.
