‘Bridgerton’ fame Charithra Chandran is set to produce a reality TV series centered on “Kama Sutra,” the ancient Sanskrit-language text, according to a Variety report.

“Kama Sutra” is historically known as a guide to the art of living. Several film and TV adaptations have been made on its sexual aspects.

The Indian-origin British actor has confirmed that she will not be appearing in Season 3 of ‘Bridgerton’. While speaking to Variety about her new project, Chandran said that she would be just behind the scenes of the reality show. “I would just be producing obviously, not on the show,” Chandran told Variety. “The ‘Kama Sutra’ is actually an ancient Hindu text, but in the West, it has this not-so-pleasant, or positive, reputation and connotation. And it’s about taking ownership back of things that belong to us and our culture, and actually showing the beauty and the importance of these texts and what modern society can learn from it,” she said.

The show is currently in its initial stages of development.

Besides this, Chandran is working on producing a television adaptation of Shankari Chandran’s acclaimed novel “Song of the Sun God.” The story chronicles the lives of three generations of a tightly-knit Sri Lankan family, whose experiences are deeply intertwined with their nation’s tumultuous three-decade-long civil war. The script for the adaptation is penned by Olivia Hetreed, known for her work on films such as “Girl with a Pearl Earring” and “Wuthering Heights.”

Chandran, who rose to fame with her role as Edwina Sharma in Netflix’s “Bridgerton” Season 2 and starred in “Alex Rider,” is set to take on multiple exciting projects.

She is both starring in and producing “Arzu,” a drama series adapted from the provocative novel by Mumbai-based author Riva Razdan. She will feature in the upcoming web series “Pillow Talk” and lead the romantic comedy “How to Date Billy Walsh” on Prime Video, directed by Alex Pillai. Scheduled for release on 5th April, Chandran describes the film as a heartwarming homage to classic family movies like “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and “The Breakfast Club.”

Next in line for Chandran is her debut on London’s prestigious West End stage with the one-woman show “Instructions for a Teenage Armageddon.” Written by Rosie Day and directed by Georgie Staight, the play follows the journey of a comedic teenage misfit navigating adolescence through her involvement with a struggling scout group.

“Instructions for a Teenage Armageddon” will run at London’s Garrick Theatre every Sunday from 17th March to 28th April.
