Richa Chadha, Ali Fazal’s studios announces six new films

Pushing Buttons Studios—the production company established by actor Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal in March 2021—has swiftly become a force in the entertainment industry. Following their successful debut at the esteemed Sundance Film Festival last month with “Girls Will Be Girls,” the studio is now set to embark on an ambitious journey with a range of innovative projects that underscore their commitment to groundbreaking storytelling.

Directed by Shuchi Talati, “Girls Will Be Girls,” clinched two prestigious awards – the Audience Choice for Best Film and the Jury Award for Best Actor, bestowed upon lead actress Preeti Panigrahi.

Following the success, Pushing Buttons Studios has revealed their upcoming slate, which encompasses a diverse array of projects spanning multiple genres and championing emerging talents. From adult animation to comedy, satire, documentary, and fantasy drama, the studio’s lineup promises to push boundaries and captivate audiences with fresh and inventive storytelling.

The upcoming slate of captivating films includes “Girls Will Be Girls,” directed by Shuchi Talati which delves into the poignant coming-of-age story of Mira, whose teenage exploration of sexuality is intricately intertwined with her mother’s unresolved past.

“Papita,” helmed by Akash Bhatia, presents the world of Mumbai’s paparazzi scene as photographer Porus Bisht’s life takes a dramatic turn after capturing a pivotal celebrity moment.

“Doggie Stylez,” a tongue-in-cheek satire by Ashutosh Pathak, offers a humorous take on modern society through the lens of anthropomorphic dogs attempting to mimic human behavior.

“Pinky Promise” by Amitosh Nagpal transports viewers to the scenic hills of Himachal Pradesh, where a forbidden love story between spirited dancer Pinky and talented singer Goldie unfolds amidst musical rivalry.

“RiAlity,” a documentary by Rahul Singh Datta provides a candid glimpse into the lives of Ali and Richa as they navigate the challenges of wedding planning, careers, and relationships.

Lastly, Kamal Swaroop’s “Miss Palmoliv All Night Cabaret” immerses audiences in a fantastical world where a platonic bond between a revolutionary daku and a cabaret dancer is put to the test amidst government intrigue and mystical encounters.

Expressing enthusiasm for upcoming projects, Richa Chadha said, “We are driven by a passion for storytelling and a commitment to bring fresh, diverse narratives to the forefront. The success of ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ at Sundance has fueled our determination to continue pushing creative boundaries.”

Ali Fazal added, “Pushing Buttons Studios is not just a production house; it’s a platform for artists to collaborate, experiment, and create memorable experiences for audiences. We are excited about the diverse range of projects in our pipeline.”
