Amazon MGM Studios landed an untitled thriller penned by Natalie Krinsky following a major bidding war that included five studios. The thriller will star and will be produced by Kim Kardashian. Bruna Papandrea is set to produce through her Made Up Stories banner alongside Krinsky, Deadline reported.
As per a report in Deadline, Amazon was one of the five studios that were present in the bidding war. Sources close to the project believe that a theatrical or streaming release plan is possible, however, given the early nature of the project, nothing is certain.
The only thing that is known at the moment is that the picture is a thriller specifically for Kardashian. This signals the second significant deal secured since the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike, with Kardashian taking the spotlight. Netflix previously acquired her comedy “The Fifth Wheel” during Thanksgiving, but insiders suggest that the latest deal surpasses even that in terms of profitability.
Similarly, Kardashian was very hands-on in the process as she appeared at every pitch meeting alongside Krinsky. Just like The Fifth Wheel, it is expected that Kim K will play a huge role in the marketing of the new project.
Over the past year, Kardashian has taken proactive steps to boost her acting career, initiating general meetings with writers and producers. Krinsky was among the first to meet with her, during which he conceived the idea for Kardashian. Since then, Krinsky has crafted an impressive presentation that he delivers at each subsequent meeting.
This deal is now a part of the growing slate for Kardashian, including The Fifth Wheel, and her Hulu unscripted series The Kardashians. She also starred in the most recent season of FX’s American Horror Story.
As for Krinsky, she polished her skills in numerous esteemed writing rooms, contributing to shows like Gossip Girl and Grey’s Anatomy. Her directorial debut came with “The Broken Hearts Gallery” for Sony Pictures, a film she also penned.
Kardashian, Krinsky and Papandrea are repped by WME, with Krinsky also repped by Brillstein and attorneys Tara Kole and Tiffany Graddick. Papandrea is additionally repped by attorney Barry Littman.
