Netflix announces new sports series “Receiver”

Netflix has released its latest sports series, “Receiver,” which will trail top pass catchers during the NFL 2023-24 season, featuring Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and Amon-Ra St. Brown.

In collaboration with NFL Films, Omaha Productions, and 2PM Productions, renowned for their success with the hit series “Quarterback,” Netflix is set to launch “Receiver” in the summer of 2024. The show promises an intimate look at the lives of five premier NFL receivers both on and off the field.

The series, comprising eight episodes of 45 minutes each, will delve into the challenges and triumphs faced by elite athletes as they navigate the rigors of professional football.

Executive producers include Peyton Manning and Jamie Horowitz for Omaha Productions, alongside Ross Ketover, Pat Kelleher, and Keith Cossrow for NFL Films. Patrick Mahomes and Jacquelyn Dahl represent 2PM Productions.
Gabe Spitzer, Vice President of Nonfiction Sports at Netflix, expressed excitement about the project, emphasizing the continued partnership’s success in bringing compelling sports narratives to global audiences.

NFL Films Supervising Producer Joe Zucco echoed Spitzer’s sentiments, noting the exceptional talent and dedication of the featured receivers as a perfect follow-up to the acclaimed “Quarterback” series.

Peyton Manning, one of the executive producers, shared his enthusiasm for delving into the world of wide receivers, emphasizing the uniqueness of each player’s journey.

“Receiver” joins Netflix’s extensive lineup of sports programmes, reaffirming the streaming giant’s commitment to delivering diverse and engaging content to sports enthusiasts worldwide. Netflix already has collaborations spanning various sports leagues, including the NFL, Formula 1, PGA TOUR, ATP, WTA, FIFA, and WWE, among others.
