Canadian singer Celine Dion, who is also known as the “Queen of Power Ballads” is ready to make a dramatic return to the stage at the upcoming Olympic Games, with speculation suggesting her performance will be featured during the opening ceremony on Friday, as per Variety report.

Dion’s Olympic performance will be the pop icon’s first public appearance since she paused her touring schedule and stepped back from the limelight following her Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis in December 2022.

Interestingly, Lady Gaga is another rumored headliner for the opening ceremony, Details about Dion’s anticipated performance remain tightly guarded.

As Variety reported, representatives for Dion did not immediately respond to the news of her Olympic performance. However, the Canadian singer hinted at a possible comeback in an April interview with Vogue France. She said, “I’ve chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team. I want to be the best I can be. My goal is to see the Eiffel Tower again!” Dion stated. She also mentioned her ongoing efforts to regain her strength, saying, “For four years I’ve been saying to myself that I’m not going back, that I’m ready, that I’m not ready… As things stand, I can’t stand here and say to you: ‘Yes, in four months.’ I don’t know… My body will tell me.”

The Olympic opening ceremony, set to be an unprecedented nautical parade along the Seine River, will culminate near the Trocadero, with the Eiffel Tower as a stunning backdrop. This marks the first time the ceremony will be held outside a stadium, showcasing iconic Parisian landmarks and featuring 3,500 actors, dancers, and musical performers. Dion’s connection to the Olympics is well-known; she performed “The Power of the Dream” at the 1996 Atlanta Games opening ceremony, a broadcast watched by a record 3.5 billion viewers worldwide.
