Speculation of an Oasis reunion reached fever pitch as Liam and Noel Gallagher hinted at a potential band announcement set for Tuesday. On Sunday, the brothers shared a cryptic video on their social media accounts, as well as on the official Oasis page, that featured the iconic band’s logo style. The short clip displayed the date “27.08.24” followed by the time “8am,” sparking excitement among fans.
The Manchester rock legends disbanded in 2009 following a notorious backstage altercation at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, which led to Noel’s abrupt departure. Since then, fans have eagerly awaited news of a reunion, and recent developments have fueled hope that it might finally happen.
A Sunday Times report, citing unnamed industry insiders, claimed that the Gallagher brothers are preparing for a series of concerts next year, including performances at London’s Wembley Stadium and Manchester’s Heaton Park. Speculation also suggests that the band could secure a coveted headline slot at Glastonbury.
Liam Gallagher kept the rumor mill turning on Sunday by engaging with fans on X, formerly known as Twitter. He cryptically remarked, “I never did like that word FORMER,” and shared various news articles about the reunion buzz. Later that evening, during his headline set at Reading Festival, Liam dedicated the Oasis classic “Half The World Away” to his brother, adding fuel to the reunion fire. “I wanna dedicate this song to Noel Gallagher,” he told the crowd. He also dedicated “Cigarettes & Alcohol” to those who he said “hate the band.”
As his performance drew to a close, the same teaser clip displaying Tuesday’s date flashed on the stage screens, leaving fans in a frenzy. Many took to social media to share their excitement, while some voiced concerns about potential venues, with one fan calling Heaton Park a “terrible venue for concerts.” Liam cheekily responded, “See you down the front…”
When asked by another fan when the reunion dates would be announced, Liam hinted, “Next Friday…”
The Gallagher brothers have had a notoriously volatile relationship, with past tours crumbling under the weight of their feuds. However, 30 years after the release of their debut album “Definitely Maybe,” which catapulted Oasis into the Britpop stratosphere, the prospect of a reunion appears closer than ever. Fans are now eagerly awaiting the announcement on Tuesday, hoping for a revival of one of rock’s most iconic bands.
