After years of stalled progress, Bhushan Kumar is once again pushing forward with Mogul, the long-awaited biopic of his father, the late music mogul Gulshan Kumar. According to exclusive information from Peepingmoon.com, the T-Series head is determined to bring his father’s larger-than-life story to the big screen, and is rebuilding the project from scratch. Sources from the industry confirm that Bhushan Kumar has prioritized this project, ensuring it’s back in active development. The film’s original director, Subhash Kapoor, is no longer involved, and a new writing team has been tasked with revising the script. While a release timeline is still unclear, there’s no doubt that Mogul is gaining momentum within T-Series. One of the major developments revolves around casting. Bhushan Kumar has reportedly initiated discussions with Ranbir Kapoor to portray Gulshan Kumar. Though Ranbir has shown interest, his packed schedule until 2026 poses a potential hurdle. If the Brahmastra actor passes on the role, Bhushan plans to approach Ayushmann Khurrana and Varun Dhawan as alternative leads. The journey to make Mogul has been anything but smooth. Initially announced in 2017 with Akshay Kumar in the lead, the film faced a setback when Akshay exited due to creative differences. Aamir Khan then stepped in as both the star and co-producer, only to later step back after sexual misconduct allegations against Kapoor surfaced during the #MeToo movement. While Aamir briefly returned, his plans shifted after the underperformance of Laal Singh Chaddha, leaving Mogul in limbo once again.
