The much-loved horror-comedy Ready or Not is gearing up for its sequel, with lead actress Samara Weaving returning to her role of the bride. Known for her performances in Netflix’s The Babysitter and the 2022 Scream, Weaving has become a familiar face in the horror genre.

Production company Radio Silence, the team behind the original 2019 hit, is also returning to bring this fan-favorite back to life. The film collective—comprising Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, Justin Martinez, and Chad Villella—will once again collaborate with Searchlight Pictures, which will distribute the upcoming movie. Radio Silence is also celebrated for their recent work on Scream VI.

The original Ready or Not, written by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy, was directed by Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett. The film tells the story of a bride who finds herself in a deadly game of Hide and Seek with her new in-laws during her wedding night, thanks to a pact they made with the devil. Made on a modest $6 million budget, the film, which also starred Adam Brody, Andie MacDowell, and Henry Czerny, earned a staggering $28 million domestically, surpassing expectations and becoming Searchlight’s biggest release of 2019. Its mix of dark humor and biting social commentary was praised by both critics and audiences alike.

Though plot details for the sequel are still under wraps, it is confirmed that Busick and Murphy will return as writers. While Tripp Vinson, Bradley J. Fischer, William Sherak, and James Vanderbilt will return to producing the project, Villella and Tara Farney will serve as executive producers. On Searchlight’s side, production executives Cornelia Burleigh and Richard Ruiz will oversee the project, reporting to co-heads of production and development, DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.
