An Israeli airstrike on the southern Lebanese city of Nabatieh has killed at least six people, including the city’s mayor, according to Lebanon’s health ministry. According to reports, the strike hit a municipal building during a crisis coordination meeting, with local officials confirming the deaths.

The Israeli military said it launched strikes on “dozens” of Hezbollah infrastructure sites in the Nabatieh area, including underground facilities, as per BBC report. This comes amid ongoing Israeli operations against Hezbollah, which Israel accuses of using southern Lebanon to hide weapons and strategic assets.

Earlier today, Israel also carried out airstrikes on Beirut, targeting what it described as a Hezbollah weapons facility in the Dahieh suburb. These are the first strikes on Beirut in five days.

The Lebanese Prime Minister’s office condemned the attack, accusing Israel of “intentionally” targeting a municipal council meeting. Local governor officials echoed these claims in an interview with the BBC, saying the strikes hit a key crisis coordination team.

Meanwhile, Israel’s military campaign continues in Gaza, where Israeli forces say they killed a Hamas commander and over 50 fighters in northern Gaza. The US has urged Israel to allow more humanitarian aid into Gaza, with warnings that failure to do so could affect US military assistance. Some aid has since entered northern Gaza following the warning.
