The London Critics’ Circle Film Awards has announced its 45th slate of nominees, with Sean Baker’s Anora and Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist leading the list, each earning seven nominations. Edward Berger’s Conclave and Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance follow closely behind with six nominations apiece, while Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez secured five nods. Rounding out the frontrunners are Mike Leigh’s Hard Truths and Rich Peppiatt’s Kneecap, each with four nominations. These films are all contesting for the coveted Film of the Year award, alongside All We Imagine as Light by Payal Kapadia, La Chimera by Alice Rohrwacher, Nickel Boys by RaMell Ross, and Robert Eggers’ much-anticipated Nosferatu. In the performance categories, Actress of the Year nominees include Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Hard Truths), Nicole Kidman (Babygirl), Mikey Madison (Anora), Demi Moore (The Substance), and Saoirse Ronan (The Outrun). Competing for Actor of the Year are Adrien Brody (The Brutalist), Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Daniel Craig (Queer), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), and Ralph Fiennes (Conclave). The awards ceremony will take place on 2 February, 2025, at London’s May Fair Hotel, which will be hosted by renowned critic Mark Kermode. The Critics’ Circle Film Awards, voted on by the 210-member Film Section of the Critics’ Circle, remains the UK’s longest-standing critics’ organization. Eligibility spans films released in UK cinemas or on premier streaming platforms between mid-February 2024 and mid-February 2025.
